He will show you the aerial paths taken by all the crossmen and the great birds of prey ... The aim is to improve your free-flying skills, while enjoying yourself ...
Prerequisites :
Cross courses are aimed at independent paragliderssinceun seul moniteur sera avec vous… dans le ciel cette fois ! Equipped with GPS beacons, you'll travel in a group according to a flight plan drawn up together. A recovery shuttle will follow your route to ensure your safety. There are a few prerequisites for a successful cross-country course:
- be able to take off and land independently outside official airfields (although this is not a goal in itself).
- justifier d’un vol thermique de durée.
- Use thermal conditions to stay aloft and listen to instructions.
- know how to use your radio to communicate in the air.
- have a glider and harness suited to your level.
- The Siv course is not a prerequisite: piloting skills in turbulent air masses are acquired by increasing the volume of flying. This is known as flying for a long time. The aim here is to keep the paraglider on your head and optimise glide. The piloting courses, or SIV, are complementary to this, allowing you to deepen and refine your knowledge of the equipment by voluntarily unbalancing your glider, but in calm air, on the water and in a safe environment.
On the programme:
The aim of this course is to reach several points in the air, then return to your starting point, study and exploit the day's aerology to make some magnificent paragliding flights. We'll review your personal expectations together during the course. If possible, we'll suggest a different route each day, depending on the weather conditions.
- Weather analysis to start with, where to find the relevant information to prepare for a safe cross-country paragliding flight.
- Read, analyse, understand and use everything Mother Nature has to offer to optimise our flight.
- Working with GPS, analysing tracks, reading a map and preparing a cross country flight plan.
- Set achievable objectives, therefore know yourself, analyse your progress in paragliding objectively.
- Flying in a group (the group is stronger for cross-country flying) and learning to use the presence of other paragliders in the sky!
- Flying fast to go further, optimising the conditions of the moment,
The subjects are vast and sometimes different for everyone!

FAQ paragliding courses :
Every paraglider has to compulsory third-party insurance which covers any damage caused to others. As an EFVL-FFVL approved school, our students must also take out a licence, which includes this compulsory insurance. This insurance is valid throughout the calendar year, and is renewed in the autumn.
>> SIMPLIFIED VERSION for STAGE INITIATION
There are several options available to you, depending on how much you practice:
- FFVL student insurance for 9 days : Ideal for your first paragliding course, you will only be covered in a FFVL-approved school. This insurance will not cover you if you wish to fly solo, i.e. outside a paragliding school. Days can be taken non-consecutively.
- FFVL annual student insurance : affordable annual package, which only covers you when you are supervised by an FFVL structure. However, if you want to fly on your own during the year, you can top up your cover and take out annual "Flying" insurance.
- FFVL "First-time licence holder" insurance The FFVL is offering you a special price for your very first annual licence. Obviously not renewable. You'll be insured all year round, for solo or supervised flights.
- FFVL "Flying" insurance: This is the classic annual insurance for independent pilots.
Note: each time you take out a licence, you will need to choose a paragliding club to join. Take a paragliding club near you so you can play your part!
