The BV1 is designed to accompany you on expeditions in flight-bivouac the most demanding. Our team has succeeded in combining robustness and comfort in a lightweight harness whose practicality and efficiency make it the ideal tool for bivouac flying. Everything in this harness, from the choice of fabrics to the architecture of the structure, has been designed to withstand intensive use in the mountains. It is the harness for the most extreme bivouac expeditions, the one that Antoine Girard chose to accompany him deep into the Himalayas and up to Broad Peak, above which he reached the record altitude of 8400m.
Inflatable protection under a large part of the body, enough storage space to carry everything you'll need on an expedition and even loops to hold a solar panel during the flight, as well as an anti-forgetting system capable of holding the pilot, make the BV1 a harness in a class of its own that lives up to the philosophy of "everything you need without anything you don't".
Inflatable Protection
The storage compartments are designed so that the back protector can be inflated even when all your equipment is in place and the harness is comfortable to fly with even when loaded with all your bivouac kit*.
Storage volumes
The compartment under the seat is easily accessible through a horizontal opening that allows you to put heavy and bulky equipment such as a stove, tent and walking sticks (hopefully not too much).
The rear compartment is accessed via a two-way zip and magnetic lock. Part of this pocket is dedicated to the hydration pack with an outlet for the tube above the shoulder.
- The pocket under the cockpit easily accommodates an external battery.
- The pocket above the cocoon is easily accessible and ideal for a camera and anything else you need to grab in flight.
- The left pocket is large enough to hold a camera holder or other accessories.
Solar Panel Fasteners
Loops for securing a solar panel are located on the top of the cocoon and allow you to place it facing the sun once in flight to recharge your batteries.
Architecture and Comfort
Nitinol rims improve back support and carbon rims are placed under the seat, improving comfort and making it easier to quickly switch to the upright position for those technical top landings. The wide thigh straps provide the comfort and sensitivity of a bucket seat. Finally, the thigh straps can be opened for easy donning of the harness, even when loaded.
*The inflatable back protector of the harness must be fully inflated to comply with the EN standard.

Cocoon or not cocoon?
You're ready to take the plunge if : You are comfortable with the semi-recumbent position, which will require you to position your whole body differently when leaning on the harness. Yaw movements will have to be approached differently. Your pelvis is a little higher, and with it your centre of gravity, so instability will be a little more pronounced than in a sports harness. However, the leg straps help to reduce this effect. You're ready to bend your legs as soon as an unfamiliar sensation arrives. Cocoon harnesses are no longer just for paragliding competitors. Their comfort has seduced adventurers and they are becoming lighter to accompany your bivouac flights... We have a whole range of cocoon harnesses for you to try out. Here you'll find your first cocoon, stable and without too many adjustments, or light and with leg straps for mountain take-offs, with a large storage volume for the bivouac or a beautiful foiler for optimised aerodynamics... Come and try it out!See all our items in the range Cocoon harnesses.
