AONIC - Take your skills to "A" higher level
The new AONIC offers a level of performance and agility rarely seen in the EN-A class. Nevertheless, it remains suitable for teaching thanks to its requirements in terms of passive safety.

A breath of fresh air in the EN-A class. The AONIC sets the standards for the top of the EN-A class. It can be used from the very beginning of paragliding training, and is the ideal ally for ambitious pilots who want to conscientiously perfect their automatisms in the EN-A class. The step up to the higher class is no longer compulsory to benefit from performance, glide and reactivity. With an aspect ratio of 5.17, 49 cells and reduced lines, the AONIC has all the hallmarks of a great wing, with the added safety of the EN-A class. It will also appeal to pilots who want to switch to an EN-A, and who want to fly relaxed without missing any of the little details around it.
Growing together. During the tuning and testing phases, the idea was to make the AONIC very accessible and versatile. It's intuitive to drive, with a high level of passive safety, while retaining that touch of agility and speed - a good recipe for great adventures to come. Optimised design and materials, right down to the smallest detail, make the AONIC the glider to play with for a long time after training, in SIV/Pilotage, cross-country, travel or soaring.
Open all options. With the AONIC, it's easy to accumulate EN-A flying hours. Whether you want to progress to the EN-B class in the future, or specialise in a particular area of flying: hike&fly, cross country, competition, aerobatics, the AONIC is certainly the glider best suited to accompany you on your first adventures. This versatility is perhaps the reason why you'll never part with your AONIC.
Head free for the most part. Feeling good about your paraglider starts long before you take off. With the AONIC, untangling the lines is easy thanks to the sheathed lines at the bottom and reduced lines at the top. The combination of Dyneema on the A and B lines, and Kevlar reduces the diameter of the lines and provides excellent stability. The risers have been designed specifically for the AONIC and the lines used for certain manoeuvres (the ears, for example) are marked for easy identification. The colour code recommended by the Paragliding Manufacturers Association (PMA): line A: red; line B: yellow; line C: blue; controls: orange; stabilo: green. Colour-coded risers for left and right for a safer connection to the harness. Speaking of harnesses for the AONIC, NOVA recommends the versatility of the VENTUS.
Target group of pilots
The AONIC offers speed, manoeuvrability and a high glide ratio in EN-A class, without neglecting the damping required for teaching purposes. The AONIC is ideal for pilots who like to develop a good feeling on launch and on training slopes. In the air, there's a good feeling of glide and the pressure is balanced. The accelerator is effective and causes little glide degradation for a glider of this class. NOVA recommends flying in the middle of the weight range. For more experienced pilots, the upper end of the range is also very profitable.
In a few words
New design. The coloured scalloped band is the central element of the new design. It accentuates the sail's elongation. The two coloured touches on the stabilisers complete the design, making the markings on the sail more visible and varying slightly from model to model.
3D-Shaping. 3D Shaping" uses additional seams to reduce leading edge wrinkles and therefore increase the wing's performance. If you try to bend a sheet of fabric along 2 axes (profile curvature + ballooning effect), creases will inevitably appear.
Air Scoop. NOVA Air Scoop is an optimised air intake that increases the wing's internal pressure. The principle is comparable to the dynamic pressure vents on a sports car. The increased airflow produces a higher internal pressure. In paragliding, the higher internal pressure results in better performance thanks to greater structural resistance to crushing, particularly in accelerated flight.
Weight-optimised" fabric. Weight-optimised" paragliders are lighter than conventional paragliders, but offer the same mechanical strength and UV durability. Quality controls are carried out regularly on our production lines.
Simplified line plan. The AONIC has an uncluttered line layout with just two levels of lines: lower lines, upper lines and that's it. This simplifies untangling considerably.
Redesigned risers. The AONIC risers are a combination of the PRION's colour-coded markings and the ION's choice of materials, which are narrower and lighter.
Ergonomic control handles. Nova has developed new brake handles for the MENTOR 6, and they're so popular that they've fitted them as standard on the AONIC. They're ergonomic and particularly comfortable.
