Practical advice

  • Reservation In high season, remember to book your seats well in advance, especially for helicopter jumps.

  • Weather conditions Skydiving: skydiving is very dependent on weather conditions, particularly visibility and wind. Helicopter jumps are a little more flexible, but are still subject to the vagaries of the weather.

  • Photos and videos You can also add these options to make your jump an unforgettable memory.

  • Physical condition A medical certificate may be required depending on your age and the type of skydive planned (compulsory for children). Check with each facility and with your doctor if you have any specific medical conditions.

And if you fancy a more contemplative alternative...

For those who prefer a gentler but equally spectacular aerial experience, the first flight in paragliding over Lake Annecy is an ideal option. Tandem flights from the Col de la Forclaz or Planfait offer a unique view of the lake and surrounding mountains, with a much better environmental footprint than jumps from a plane or helicopter.

What is the difference between a parachute canopy and a paraglider canopy?

Paragliders and parachutes are two types of wing used in aerial activities, but they differ significantly in both design and use. The paraglider is specially designed for free flight and extended lift: it is larger, lighter and optimised to offer maximum manoeuvrability, glide and autonomy in the air, allowing the pilot to take advantage of updrafts and stay airborne for long periods. A parachute canopy, on the other hand, is used mainly for free-fall and jumping, and is designed for rapid opening, immediate stability and controlled descent over a precise area, without seeking to prolong the flight. It is often more compact and less streamlined, as its primary purpose is safety and braking the fall rather than aerodynamic performance.
