Chouka is a small 100% French brand, based in Grenoble.

The history of the Chouka variometer ...
It all started with an unsightly but functional DIY project: the "vario tictac", named after the sweet box in which the first prototype was housed. Alexandre LOUISNARD is a computer and electronics engineer based in Grenoble, France, but he also has a passion for paragliding and the mountains, so he wanted to put his profession to good use with this variometer project. One thing led to another, and with the help of friends who were testers, they refined the instrument until they finally came up with the variometer we have today: the CHOUKA.

The guiding principle of the project was to create a lightweight, compact vario that could be concealed behind the helmet, on the cockpit or in a corner of the harness. As a keen cross-country flyer, it's nice not to have to carry the vario around in your paragliding bag. The second objective was to be able to manufacture it in France while selling it at an affordable price. Free flight is already an expensive sport, so this seemed an important point. After a year spent designing, testing, improving and finally producing the CHOUKA variometer, we're delighted to present it to you and hope you like it.
