Paragliding lessons in Annecy : Frequently asked questions
Every paraglider has to compulsory third-party insurance which covers any damage caused to others. As an EFVL-FFVL approved school, our students must also take out a licence, which includes this compulsory insurance. This insurance is valid throughout the calendar year, and is renewed in the autumn.

There are several options available to you, depending on how much you practice:
- FFVL student insurance for 9 days : Ideal for your first paragliding course, you will only be covered in a FFVL-approved school. This insurance will not cover you if you wish to fly solo, i.e. outside a paragliding school. Days can be taken non-consecutively.
- FFVL annual student insurance : affordable annual package, which only covers you when you are supervised by an FFVL structure. However, if you want to fly on your own during the year, you can top up your cover and take out annual "Flying" insurance.
- FFVL "First-time licence holder" insurance The FFVL is offering you a special price for your very first annual licence. Obviously not renewable. You'll be insured all year round, for solo or supervised flights.
- FFVL "Flying" insurance: This is the classic annual insurance for independent pilots.
Note: each time you take out a licence, you will need to choose a paragliding club to join. Take a paragliding club near you so you can play your part!
A driving course calls for calm and concentration, as it will take you out of your comfort zone... For greater peace of mind during briefings and debriefings, we have a room specially dedicated to SIV and Pilotage courses in the Alérions5 minutes from our paragliding school.

This is where we generally meet up at 8 a.m. (Park in the south car park, on the lake side, see photo). If the weather deteriorates in the afternoon, the meeting point will be brought forward to 7am.
Flights will depart exclusively from La ForclazA dedicated shuttle bus runs between the take-off/landing area and the centre. A shuttle dedicated to the course provides the link between the take-off/landing area and the centre.

The price of your driving course includes :
- supervision by 2 state-qualified instructors
- the loan of a waistcoat and an earpiece
- images and videos of your flight sessions (bring a USB or SD key to recover your images)
- a boat for recovery
- shuttle journeys
Your enrolment will only be confirmed after payment of a deposit. 100 deposit, Otherwise, you will be put on the waiting list and your place will not be guaranteed. This deposit will be refunded in full if the SIV course is cancelled by the Les Grands Espaces schoolThis is particularly true in the event of bad weather. However, there will be no refund in the event of cancellation on your part. less than 30 days before the course. If you cancel less than 7 days before the course, you will be billed in full.
A typical day on an SIV course normally includes a briefing, 3 flights and a debriefing.
The day will be invoiced in full if 2 or 3 flights are made. In the event that only 1 flight is made due to bad weather and on the instructor's decision, the day will be invoiced with a reduction of 50%. If no flight is made due to bad weather, but if the briefing has been given and the course equipment has been used (shuttle to take-off, boat set-up, etc.), a minimum charge of €50 will be billed.
No charge will be made for a day cancelled by the instructors on the morning of the course due to bad weather.

Vous pourrez ici vous régaler en randonnée ou en escalade ainsi qu’en pédalo comme en voile sur le lac… mais c’est bien le parapente qui façonne l’image de la ville année après année. How much does a tandem flight in Annecy cost?
At Les Grands Espaces the price of a paragliding flight adulte en 2025 varie de 100€ pour le vol découverte de 15 minutes à 280€ pour le vol de Cross ++ de 1h45. Quant aux jeunes enfants ils bénéficient d’un tarif privilégié de 85€ sur le vol Loupiot. Voir Price list.
An experience accessible to all, departing from Talloires and taking off from the Col de La Forclaz or Planfait.
Don't hesitate to try your hand at paragliding, a sport that is truly accessible to everyone. Children, adults and even the elderly, anyone can take a first flight from one of Annecy's paragliding sites. Depending on the aerological conditions of the day, you can take off from the Col de la Forclaz to return either to Talloires directly to the Grands Espaces, or to Doussard and return by shuttle. It is also possible to take off from Planfait, the ridge above the Talloires landing. Whatever the day's conditions, you're sure to get your fill of adrenalin and thrills.
When is the best time to fly?
When should I book?
The aerological conditions over Lake Annecy are so favourable that it is possible to fly almost every day of the year except, of course, when it's raining or snowing. In spring, the atmosphere is a little more mineral as the trees are still waiting for their leaves and it's a little cooler, in summer it's hot and you can fly in a T-shirt, in autumn you can enjoy the shimmering colours of the vegetation and in winter the summits are covered in snow and the flights are generally calmer as the sun heats the rock faces less. Whichever season you choose, you'll enjoy an unforgettable aerial experience!
However, given the frenzy of tourism in Annecy in high season, we advise you to book your flight several days or even weeks in advance to make sure you can choose the time slot that suits you best.
How does a first paragliding flight with the Grands Espacess work?
Once you have made your reservation, simply come to the see you at Grands EspacesJust opposite the Talloires landing. From there, depending on the weather, you'll take the minibus to one of the take-off sites (Planfait or Col de La Forclaz). Once you're airborne, your state-qualified instructor will provide you with special equipment: a paragliding helmet and harness. If you have sunglasses, take them with you. Your instructor will take the opportunity to brief you on how the flight will go, the safety instructions and what to do during take-off and landing. Once you've settled in, your instructor will inflate the glider on your back, while you head off in the direction you set during the briefing. After a short run-up, you'll find yourself flying through the sky as if by magic! All you have to do then is enjoy the flight and take some great videos to immortalise the experience. For the landing, the pilot will remind you of the instructions and make a gentle approach to get you back on the ground in the best possible conditions. Then all you have to do is come back to the shop to collect your photos and videos and celebrate the adventure with your loved ones!
How old do you have to be to take a tandem tandem flight?
There is officially no age limit for paragliding. Minimum age is determined more by the weight of the passenger. Children must weigh at least 20kg for the tandem wing to be correctly loaded. For older people, there's no such thing as maximum age for paragliding. You just need to be active on your legs to walk quickly facing the slope when you take off. Certain time slots are particularly suitable for flights by sensitive or very young people. These are often the morning slots, when the air is still calm.
